it’s a hunt that can only be done in Ruby version due to an inexplicable level difference that allows repel tricking (as opposed into in Sapphire/Emerald where it shares its level with other mon on the route)
repel tricking it brings the encounter rate down to ~0.8%, so it’s a total pain in the ass…
…unless you use the acro bike + a dive-related glitch only present in Japanese Ruby to bunny-hop and save you a fuck ton of extra effort that’d be needed to reapply repels and fish for encounters (it avoids the infamous bunny-hopping softlock due to that softlock only happening on grass tiles instead of water tiles for some reason)
doing it is absolute proof of giga-autism, which is why it’s a rite of passage for every 1/8192 hunter I’ve ever met
