We already knew he was being sheltered, constantly fed half-truths and exposed to only the worst examples of what humanity had to offer.
Part of growing up is learning to think for yourself and critically evaluate the world around you and even a cursory exploration at the real world would shatter the facade Ghetsis had created.
And unfortunately for Ghetsis this turned out to be true. All it took was a single battle with the protagonist for N to immediately start to question everything he had been led to believe.
