Personally I'm excited for the opportunity to see the growth in Serena's character since her last appearance. We left on her taking a very confident forward step with the kiss, so I'd like to see more of that confidence and strength and how it's developed. If she's back to being a blushy mess who says "satoshi" under her breath and hopes Ash notices, that'd just be a regression honestly. I don't need to her straight up as Ash out on a date (because that'll never happen), but just her being confident *and* affectionate with him, showing she's grown even more would great. Heck, even something like "One day, when you and I are not as busy, I'd like to spend more time with you." would be great! It'd show her being active in her pursuit of Ash while not defining herself around it (being happy to wait when her own life clears up), while also keeping it ambiguous whether its even romantic to begin with. You'd never have to commit to this of course, cause the show never has Ash make good on his promises, so Serena could ask and Ash could say yes and it'd all work out even if Serena doesn't show up again.
