I've always liked the idea of him having a mouth along the top of his belly, but the problem is his whole belly has an outline, so you can't tell where his mouth would end. It almost looks like he has a giant open mouth with a swirl design inside of it. I've thought that since I was a kid.
I got rid of the outline on his belly except for his mouth, though it's still not super noticeable unless he opened it.
Also some of the older art had him with a darker color than Poliwhirl, which I think looks better. I also made him a tiny bit less wide.
