I was bummed as I grew to learn he was so horribly outclassed, even from the moment you can get Fearow. Other birds came and produced many favorites, but I still missed the original.
The Mega is a wonderful gift. It's not the strongest, but it is surprisingly effective at what it does and is pretty unique in it's niche. You have to pass on a number of more powerful Mega options, but it is finally a decent Pokemon in it's own right.
