I wish people would be more honest and just say that the real reason they don't like BDSP is because the overworld looks like the Miiverse, and what they wanted was a fully 3D adventure through an expanded Sinnoh, in the same vein as LGPE/SwSh "but better", instead of citing all this superfluous crap that doesn't really matter, because that's what it is at the end of the day; BDSP dropped with an aesthetic approach that was downright insulting at a time where most of Pokemon's good faith had been dried up by SWSH.
See, the real reason more people were skeptical of BDSP when it was first teased wasn't because Game Freak was a sacred cow that just so happened to not be attached to the project, but because the graphical style - not even just the fidelity - was astonishingly, and, I repeat, insultingly bad. It was SO bad that even the most diehard, cockslurping Pokemon stan (or shill if you prefer, whatever) struggled to tolerate it.
Same reason people find a bunch of different ways to shit on a game that happens to have a bad story, and swear up and down that they don't care about the narrative, but the gameplay. It's bullshit. You do care about the story. If the story was good, you would be praising the fuck out of this piece of shit. The story is an integral part of the complete product. If it's bad, your opinion of it is going to suffer, because it's part of the experience you moron. You can't mute it.
But the graphical approach is an even more integral part of the game. It's something that absolutely can't be ignored under any circumstance. Even the absence of graphics is a graphical approach that defines the experience. And yet, people still find a way to do mental cartwheels around the most pressing issue: the fact that BDSP looks like shit. EVERY other complaint is a branch off from that central point of dissatisfaction. Anyone who says otherwise is full of shit.
