You blurt it out before you even know what you're doing. An attempt at forcing the pink elephant in the room ending only in having the girl turn around, and stare back at the moon.
"O-Oh! Uh, I-I'm sorry, I um, didn't mean to-"
"No, Calem. I understand. You're still a bit confused and on the edge about this whole predicament. You have so many questions about me and...as much as I would like to answer them all truthfully and honestly, I simply can't right now, it's not the right time yet. Please just wait a bit longer."
"But...but why? When is the right time?"
She sighs, turns around, and approaches you.
"Calem, there's only one way I can put this, and please don't take it the wrong way, but:
I absolutely detest the thought of us growing closer than our already established dynamic. I abhor the idea and I want to stray as far as possible from it. It isn't your fault, it's mine."
Ouch.
In an effort to soften the blow, she gives you a small hug.
"Good night, Calem."
She retreats into the room, leaving you alone in the balcony with a bombshell that's practically raped you on the inside and the out.
You end up staring at the moon for a majority of that night. You're not sure what time you go to sleep, but it's real late.
