They'd have to keep wild encounters well. random and not this go rip-off crap they're shown. We'd have to be allowed to evolve our starter since the only reason people use eevee is because it can evolve into so many different things. they'd have to keep core mechanics like held items, type differences, and abilities in tact which one of the things i've heard a lot is that they're removing held items.
honestly if it was just a new kanto remake on the sun/moon engine, albeit tweaked to work on the switch, i'd consider buying it. Especially since there's following pokemon returning. but this changes way too much of the gameplay for simplicity's sake and that's something i'm not interested in.
