I also bet these same people only really paid attention to Guzma's meme lines and spout "ya boi" without actually getting what makes his character stand above most of the other antagonist type characters. I wish people like this wouldn't try to involve themselves in character specific discussions.
Gladion's character arc was very plain to see and even if he wasn't your taste in character, it's not difficult to understand why people would hold him to a high regard as far as Pokemon characters go.
