It's great to have STABs. A not-very-effective STAB does only 2% less than a neutrally-effective coverage move, so there's little point packing coverage moves without Pokémon in mind. There's a few Dark and Ice types you can't hit, and a few Psychics and Ghosts.
Power-up Punch has nice utility and is super-effective against more types while Bite/Crunch prevent Jellicent and Shedinja fucking you over and have more PP/base power, respectively.
