>>43825383Fine, let's.
We shall imagine a world where Trubbish, Garbodor, Vanillite, Vanillish, Vanilluxe, Palpitoad, Pan*, Simi* Timburr, Gurdurr, Conkeldurr, Klink, Klang, Klinklang, Thundurus-I, Tornadus-I, Landorus-I, Sawk, Throh, Druddigon, and we shall stop with Stunfisk. These aren't all the usual suspects---just the most commonly cited (and even then, I've not included others like Gothitelle line which are still noticeably contentious).
You have just cut out a good chunk of Unova's "diversity", reducing it down to about Hoenn's size. But that's fine. The question was, what is left, and what shall be the realigned perception of the Gen in light of that?
Well, the Genies no longer shall have a reputation for being ugly. Their mustaches cease to be perceived as such and their mouths become more beastly, so that the muzzles no longer are the most hated part of the design. The body types are no longer clones of each other, with neither torso nor cloud the same.
Unlike the preceding 4 gens, this legendary trio is now totally unique to one another, with virtually no similarities to speak of.
Thundurus becomes an easy fan favorite, being the most unique and abstracted beast not only in the trio but of all the gens thus far. Its vaguely draconic gryphon-like design with cloudy claws and the weather forecast tail all mark it as an exceptionally clever and effortful design.
While not as impressive, Tornadus, with its majestic callback to Kanto legendary bird trio, and Landorus, with its fearsome callback to Johto's legendary beast trio, are no slouches themselves: respectable enough designs indeed.
