>>20463009The whole line is super non-specific and takes cues from a number of different birds. That's what I kind of like about them, it isn't just "animal with X power." They just take the idea of a magical sky-master cloud bird and run with it.
Swablu is very parrot-like, even though its basically a head. With the little tufts on his head it is kinda like a cockatiel. Also similar to the cultural idea of the "bluebird of happiness." Altaria is larger and more elegant. Swan-like neck, soaring habits like a large raptor, looks a lot like a phoenix or other mythical bird. And then Mega Altaria gets this awesome quetzal-like tail and a mass of cloudy feathers resembling a peacock's train.
Also lots of bird mons change species. Fletchling grows from a robin into a peregrine falcon, passing through an intermediate that has traits of jays, rollers, and a dozen other birds.
