Not hype. These do not look like real effort was put into the overall package.
And I get it, Pokemon as a whole has branched out so much that the main series games only matter as an introduction of characters rather than a representation of the next few years from a business perspective. It’ll probably work for the Pokemon Company up until the end of generation 9 before the fatigue sets in and the decision to put less effort into the main series becomes apparent. I’ve already accepted the main series games will never be truly great anymore because they don’t need to be to push coin for the Pokemon Company, and asking for anything more will be an uphill battle from now on because it only benefits the consumer. I’ve dedicated so much time to Pokemon already that I’ll still keep tabs on all the new things and play the main series, but I see no reason to buy them at launch or at full price to tell them they're doing their best work. As these games are going it won't be necessary to play the games immediately, so might as well not applaud the lack of quality by contributing to sales or even giving them a play log to look at on my switch system in the months after release that they would be looking for.
