What I remember as I kid
Pros
>I really liked the connectivity. When my friends and I were kids only one of us had a link cable that we would rely on so it was pretty hard to actually trade Pokemon and use trade evos
>Almost everyone in my class (I think I was in 4th or 5th grade when it came out???) would bring their DS and play Diamond/Pearl together. It was a small Catholic School so it wasn't too big a class, but the DS eventually got banned because we would constantly try to play during class. It was just really fun to all play together
>I loved the underground and the fossils actual felt a lot more usable this time around as they didn't evolve so late
>I could use Misdreavus which was one of my favorite Pokemon but never used because of Gen II's shitty distribution of Johto Pokemon
>I really liked the mystery of the Old Chateau
>I thought this game had some really funny dialogue
>VS Seeker again was amazing
Cons
>I thought the game was paced really poorly. I would reset the game a lot out of boredom usually by the time I reached close to the 6th gym leader
>Something about the game didn't hold my interest and I would go back to gen II or III games a lot while this game was out
>The Pokemon distribution was really wack. Team making was one of my favorite parts of playing Pokemon and I liked to use different Pokemon in each new run. For instance I think everyone in my friend group had a Staraptor in their party
>A lot of my favorites from older games were not in this game. I honestly was not a fan of the Gen 1 through 3 Pokemon that were chosen from this game. Too many of the same gen 1 and 2 Pokemon were chosen again from Ruby/Sapphire
>Not getting access to a lot of the cross-evo Pokemon until postgame was really stupid. I remember being really annoyed about the existence of these Pokemon from my Diamond/Pearl guidebook
>I hated the honey mechanic because some of my favorite Pokemon introduced in this game were exclusive to these damn trees!
>SLOW!!!!
