I'd say I was a bit unlucky- thanks to my ruleset, all three final evos for the starters are off the table, and the Piplup line was always the "bad early on, but great eventually" pick. with no Empoleon, that is not gonna happen.
On the other hand, Turtwig wouldn't be able to evolve at all... Chimchar would have been the optimal one. But I'm fine with this.
Charm is good in Nuzlockes and is a nice new tool for Piplup. Water Gun(40 BP) instead of Gen IV Bubble(20 BP) is also nice in the early parts.
