Brown is also common amongst indians, and population of India is ALREADY larger than that of entire fucking continent of Africa. So if we assume the logic of actual numbers, and not bs US centric worldview all brown cartoon characters should be called Indians by default, unless proven otherwise.
If you really wanna go there, Pokémon is still in the anime art style, and they've shown that their first couple black characters were designed very different from the characters who are supposed to look white or Asian (Lenora, Grant, other NPCs) That's objective proof that they're incorporating racial traits into their designs.
