If that isn't the case, then:
Why did they possess the journal parts if not to remind them of their father/husband?
If they were just random Pokemon which stumbled upon the journal, why would said Pokemon be family (which is certain since the scared Snorunts run to their mom for protection)?
Also why would the journal return to them some time after we steal it?
And if it's some random Froslass which found a journal, why can't we capture her?
On a side note, Snorunts and Froslasses don't spawn in that area otherwise.
