>>48607437Alright I guess I'll start another run so this general doesn't die to the shitposting. Need something easier than the last nor do I want another romhack/fangame. So my idea is, using
>>48629775's chart, playing through Fire Red with only Pokemon from D or F tier. Calling it Weaklocke for now, tentatively.
Let my rival pick Squirtle as I think it leads to him having the strongest team against me by endgame, Charizard having a double weakness to a type I'll have at least two mons from and Venusaur having Solarbeam as its only grass STAB past a certain point sounds cringey.
As you can imagine, with Beedrill being my only viable encounter before Brock, this naturally led to a lot of resets. With some very rudimentary rom hacking skills, I just edited out the first rival fight, Teachy TV man, and Oak's weird ass package fetch quest shit so I could run to the forest directly, catch Kakuna/Weedle, level up, and head for Brock, so each attempt only took actually about 10 or so minutes.
Also as you can imagine - Brock is more or less an RNGfest, but actually not that bad. Geodude mostly wastes time going for Defense Curls, allowing me to set up 6 Hardens and poisoning it eventually with Poison Sting, which combined with Fury Attacks wears it down quickly. Onix's Rock Tomb misses quite a bit, and it also has bad AI, so it doesn't actually try it that often and I can do the exact same thing to win. Of course, this still took me 6 attempts, mostly due to Rock Tomb critting or Beedrill taking fucking FOREVER to proc poison (funny how often it happens against the player...), but hey, eventual win's a win.
Hopefully should get easier from here on out - if I lose after this, I may just save/reset right in front of Brock until I win just due to how tedious it is, but we'll see.
