>>47797304You present a good point on relationships, however.
>And even then, why would they state the opposite of feeling pressured in a public interview?? Do you think Masuda would openly say "yeah we feel rushed" if that was the case?If they had Nintendo up their asses, they'd have dodged the question rather than come right out and say "no, Nintendo isn't pressuring us at all."
You forget the fact that Nintendo's entire MO is giving developers all the time they need. Remember how BotW took years of cockteasing before it saw anything resembling a release date? Remember Metroid Prime 4? Remember Bayonetta 3? Both them announced LITERALLY SEVERAL YEARS AGO and NOT A SINGLE PIECE OF GAMEPLAY TO SHOW FROM EITHER OF THEM and yet, Nintendo has put no fire under the asses of either Retro or Platinum.
There is no reason, no reason EVER to suspect that Nintendo would treat GF any differently. At the very least, no reason to suspect they would be treated any WORSE than Retro or Platinum, one being a literal gaijin studio and the other being a third party outright.
And on the flipside, Nintendo has EVERY interest in maintaining a good relationship with Game Freak. GF has produced one of their biggest cash cows ever, if any company understands that you don't kill the golden goose, it's Nintendo. Hell, they learned the hard way in the nineties what it meant to play hardball in this industry. They're hesitant to play that way with total strangers let alone one of their closest associates.
It's literally all internal. While it's true that TPC has to coordinate merchandising and advertising, GF could ask them for delays. It's happened before. Once upon a time this franchise was willing to delay its games to make sure it was up to snuff, but that was 15 years ago. Now GF refuses to, because they're stubborn cunts who self impose this deadline.
Don't even use the anime as an excuse, it's 90% filler and they can always shit out more.
