>>54687217 pointed out. It's impossible to solo tier 5 shadow raids because you can only bring 5 purification gems into the raid, and you have to kill an army of rocket grunts just to get those gems. For your trouble, you get a much lower IV floor and the possibility that you lose by default if people "help" you without realizing that they're out of gems, or don't throw enough gems because they assume that other people will use up their gems and they don't have to, or the game just lags and the enrage buff doesn't go away.
