In the first DLC Area, Kitakami, there's a lake that is infused with Tera crystals for unknown reasons. A sign there says
>[...] Tales say that gazing upon the glowing water can allow you to meet those who have passed on.If you bring your caught Terapagos to this location, it, for some fucking reason, summons the professor of your respective version of the game. However, the real professor has died about 2 years ago, and even the professor you met previously in the maingame was just an AI robot clone. This professor is from the past, and even they themselves say
>It's possible that our encounter might not even be occurring in a timeline connected to my own.which implies that they're from a different timeline / parallel universe.
Here comes the kicker: if you've read the professor's journals you can find in the final DLC area before the finale, you'll experience a deju-vu. The journal entry reads:
>While investigating the hidden treasure, I found myself transported to a great height, near a lake that smelled of sulfur. Based on temperature and humidity, I believe it to have been the eastern lands I've read about before.>And there, a child gave me a white volume.Indeed, you give them the White Book, which is a book about the events of the DLC and the truth about Terapagos. But the very crucial detail is that you EXCHANGE the book for THEIR COPY of the Violet/Scarlet Book. And this is the key to the whole lore that many people seem to fail to grasp.
We've had that book in our hands before - it's the professor's childhood copy that they cherished their whole life and eventually inspired them to become a professor, because they wanted to research the truth about paradox Pokémon (which always fascinated them). We know it's a unique copy because it says that it has their name "in clumsy handwriting" in them, which means they write it when they were a little kid.
