If there ever was a time when blows were taken...this was certainly it.
To begin with, Yveltal did not last long at all. Not that I've really used these games' legendaries in in-game parties because I feel their inclusion, especially Xerneas, will just make the game less challenging, but it does kind of bite to lose him so early. That said, he did sweep three of Lysandre's team and came close to taking down Mega Gyara before another goddamn Aqua Tail found its mark. I would have switched, but I still had the 'Mons in training with me, and I knew that Mantine and Escavalier were slower than Gyarados in that state. To switch for Krookodile on an Aqua Tail would have been nothing more than suicide. Alas, what happened happened.
Then I moved along, keeping my core trio up to speed while also admittedly using the Exp. Share to impart experience to those without it. I was at the bridge on Route 19 where you fight all three of your buddies in succession. I powered through Shauna, with Croc taking some damage from her Goodra, and came face to face with Tierno's Talonflame. With Croc up front, I tried for a Rock Tomb, which missed. He followed up with Acrobatics, which didn't do all that much, or so I thought. Assuming he'd go for an SD to buff his Attack to guarantee a finisher, I went for another Rock Tomb, and I was virtually all out of healing items to begin with.
Croc paid with her life.
And as of right now, Cold Iron just died to a Shell Smash Rock Wrecker from a trainer's Crustle on Route 21.
Yeah. Not looking so hot right now. I have options to deal with the Elite Four, but I have no idea what I'm going to do against Diantha with her abundance of Fairies. That said, I do have a Durant...who is the only other Steel type I have in reserve. Her time may be very near indeed.
My team for now. Unsure about Sliggoo, Sandslash and Durant may be more viable.
Gotta say, distressing when a Spinda is your second-highest leveled 'Mon.
