Up until recently I'd have said lucario without a doubt. I've always seen their species as wise, just beings. Their name comes from the latin word lucarius which means "of light or luminarity" according to bulbapedia.
There never have been many pokemon I truly love, most species look fucking terrible since generation 1 up to the recent hellscape that is gen 8.
For that matter, pokemon as a universe is pretty fucking loathsome. I fucking hate the "trainer-pokemon" bullshit as if they are not intelligent enough to fight themselves and need someone to babysit them as if they are mentally challenged. It's all disgusting slavery and I fucking hate slaves. Even the losers on the mystery dungeon games are complete failures.
Lucario was above all that, their species were intelligent, capable of choice and of far more meaningful connections with humanity, not just because of their telepathic abilities.
But as a rule fanart of lucario barely fucking gets to mediocrity. Worst of all, most of them treat it as if it were a "friendly" disgusting fucking pet that only exists for "hugs" or some similar bullshit, that it would choose to be with some worthless subhuman no matter how sinful they are and play their frivolous games.
And you know what? They might be right to some extent. Most of the positive emotions I feel towards lucario might be forever gone once I know the truth.
