Cinderace is literally a blander, less risky Greninja that got arguably the 2 best Starter signature moves ever in the same pokemon in a series where most Signature Moves are simple attacks with 50-90 BP: The fact that Pyro Ball has fucking 120 BP on a 90 Acc move with no cooldown or drawbacks is insanely obvious on its own, but also giving him Court Change, a status move that is unique, extremely good and insanely useful in doubles proves it further. But they went even further than that. Protean is at least mildly justifiable because master Ninja were supposed to be proficient in all sorts of Elemental Magic and Ninpos, but the fact that they slapped an unfitting and insanely powerful Ability that can only be justified by meaningless bullshit connections just goes to show that they didn't give a shit, they just wanted to shamelessly shill the fuck out of it.
