Zera's best bet would be to send his Metagross on it. Not much a knife can do against it's metal skin and Metagross would definitely be able to rough the killer up a bit with a couple of Meteor Mashes before he gets away on it's by hovering away.

Worst case scenario, he gets to a safe enough distance and has it use Explosion, really push the killer's resistance to it's limits.

That's what my character does, at least when he's out on excursions for long periods of time. It's way cheaper than a hotel and he doesn't want to take a Pokemon Center bed from a trainer that might need it. He has an apartment in Rustburo, but he's only there on occasion.

Zera's style of battling is to hit hard and hit fast, so a lot of his pokemon are glass cannon speedsters, except for his Metagross.

This stems from his upbringing in the mean streets of Orre, where he learned that if you didn't end a fight fast, it would eventually turn against you. He doesn't really fight that much these days, though since he's become a full time pokemon researcher.

This is Zera, a pokemon researcher and Ecologist, he studies the various different biomes that pokemon inhabit and looks into how the environment affects pokemon and vice versa.

My character is a pokemon ecologist from Orre who goes out and studies how different environments affect different pokemon. As such, he'll spend a lot of time living outside in nature, away from people for weeks, if not months at a time, going full survivalist at times just to really dive into his work. He has quite a strong team, but he only really uses them in case something goes wrong on the job, knowing full well that he can't damage the ecosystem in any way if he were to go out and actually fight.
