Right now it's unclear if mega evolution depletes all of your mega energy over time, or if it puts them in a mega evolved state for a fixed amount of time at a fixed cost.
Look at this fucking Beedrill, 3195 CP.
A regular 100% Beedrill caps at 1846 (before best friend bonus).
But it aligns with estimated stat gains based on mega evo BST.
Ultimately though this shit amounts to the same rigmarole of "invest time into raids so you can do better at raids" or some shit.
Mega evolution might honestly poison the Go League meta.
