While it's made pretty obvious that Geeta's what you might call an overworking boss, all done in the name of fostering talent + making strong trainers shine, that's a very surface-level reading of what's going on between the two of them. While there's a somewhat understandable lack of consideration given to Geeta as a character with her in-game model being just... not very enjoyable to look at all around, her team being laughable, and her relative Diantha-ness of being a champion with very, very few moments to demonstrate any real character, the fanworks I've seen with her and Larry have warmed me quite a bit to her. Which, yeah, headcanon fanon bullshit means nothing, but I'm fine with that because Pokémon canons are usually a little underwhelming anyway.
There's that undeniable kind of tension lying underneath that you only really get sparing glimpses at in their combined dialogue. Is it just a strong case of Geeta wanting to foster Larry's talent? Overworking him for malicious purposes? A grudge of some sort? They clearly have some sort of past awareness of each other, but it's left just vague enough that you can draw your own conclusions from it.
I genuinely can't comprehend why I've latched quite so autistically onto these two - Larry's not even my favourite Pokéboy this gen - but again, there's just so much you can go into with it. Not even in an "woah i ship it desu" sense, just purely the sense of being a fun character interaction to think about.
Sure hope the DLC where Geeta inevitably turns out to be evil adds to that!
