After what feels like forever I finally scraped enough time together to push through the grind and finally take down Tate and Liza! Spodera was the obvious solution to help take them down, having that highly-leveled Dark-type right before the Psychic gym is just too handy to not try for, and with how many routes you can get a Sharpedo on it was bound to happen eventually. I actually duped out in Mossdeep before landing him on Route 127, though I still had a few possible routes left even after that because the Great Hoenn Sea is just that bad when it comes to wild Pokemon variety!
As for the Gym battle itself, I focus fired down Claydol, Solrock and Lunatone with the combo of Spodera and Eclipse while Xatu CMed up to +2, fortunately the ensuing Psychic left Eclipse with 10 HP instead of critting and killing him! Protect and a switch to Tremain (who also just barely took a +2 Psychic) let Spodera clean Xatu right up!
I'm definitely hitting the late-game now, hopefully I can pull this through all the way to the end!
