Alright. They based the last 3 Pokedex designs on the system they released on. The problem arises when you have TWO different Pokedexes on the same system. It has to be a different design, but it can't look like a DS or a DSi since they look almost identical.
The solution they settled on was making it look like a very ubiquitous MP3 player when folded, and have it extend out like a DS. Not an iPhone, an MP3 player. I cannot stress how different an iPhone is to an old style iPod or basically any MP3 player that came out in that style ever.
