>>12688120Good question, anon. A Gustav spin-off is not foreseeable in the near future because he's mainly a one-trick pony, sorry Gustavfags, and in my eyes, only humorous when used every now and then. I attempted the concept of a Gustav focus chapter back in the Nate & Rosa days, but the way you guys chose it, he was kinda sent to the backburner.
As for the stories themselves, yeah, I'm going to say that for every chapter that ends the way I originally drafted it out, there are two that don't, that surprises me, and I like the way you guys think.
Yeah, a lot of them start out by initially following the concept of "Hey, what if we loosely adapt this show, movie, book etc. etc., but retool the idea so that it's more like: 'What if Pokemon was like this? How would the characters react, etc, who would play what part? Would /vp/ recognize the reference?'" type of situation. As far as that goes, I don't try to end the story the way I drafted it to a week earlier. That's never what I want to do because I feel it takes away from anon's choice and the CYOA in general, it's also why I don't pre-write my material beforehand. I do it as we go along, to make it "feel" real, because that's how it is.
In fact, the main point of Nate & Rosa in the first place was to adapt BW2, but with vibrant yet dysfunctional characters that I thought /vp/ could relate to, or at least poke and laugh at. But in order to make it work, there has to be fresh ideas put in to make it worth your time, if I just adapted the whole game's story word-for-word, it wouldn't be good.
Then there's the other 50%, say this one for example, isn't necessarily based on anything to begin with. It just comes to me, at admittedly, the most idiotic of times, like: "Hey, what if Animal Crossing was really limbo?" then my thought process goes to, "Okay. That sounds fun. How do we make it something people want to read?"
That's all there is to it, really. I know, it sounds autistic as fuck, but it's how I work.
