Also highly unbelievable that the bug collecting eco-conscious creator of Pokémon would have intentionally created a franchise that would lead to the further devaluing of real world animals. Pokémon only makes sense if normal animals do not exist in their world, otherwise it's an incredibly disgusting franchise that teaches human beings to be disregard the real species of their planet in favor of fantasy creatures.
All of the emotional beats of the anime would fall completely flat if we were supposed to believe Ash and all of his human friends are people who would have nothing but contempt for squirrels and mice since they don't shoot electricity.
