That could be ZA's Lumiose giving you both Japanese perspectives, in the first part of the game the idealized version of Paris that the Japanese have, and in the second part an exaggerated dystopia when they confront reality.
I lived near Paris for a while, it's a great city, but it's nowhere near what those guys have in their heads with clean streets, blue skies, friendly people, and beautiful blonde waiters/waitresses who only want a Japanese boyfriend/girlfriend. It's not the biggest piece of shit on the planet either, but the contrast hits those guys really hard, I remember a Japanese tourist breaking down crying because a French woman yelled at her because she was in a hurry and the Japanese girl was blocking the subway entrance.
