First thing would be a totally free moving camera and just some cool cinematic stuff. I really want this Pokemon game to take full advantage of its 3rd dimension and the fact that it is now a console game.
Second is for there to essentially be some functions along the lines of "I already know how to do this so please don't tell/do/show me". The option to do so is never not appreciated in any video game ever.
The most important thing of all though is that I want there to be some BIG, SIGNIFICANT changes to Pokemon. Some REALLY DIFFERENT and GOOD changes. I want them to really look at everything that makes Pokemon "Pokemon" and think about what should be kept, fixed, altered, or removed. One of Game Freak's issues is that they have a tendency to do more altering and removing and not enough keeping and fixing.
Along the lines of this, I want their general mindset about Pokemon to change. To really be into the idea of not merely conforming to ordinary Pokemon ways, just cause it's the way it's always been. If gen 8 has some really good new features and by gen 9 they drop them like they tend to do, I'm gonna be super upset. They have all the money and resources in the world, so the only thing really "stopping" them is themselves. I wanna see Pokemon taking positive inspiration from OTHER VIDEO GAMES, and for them to OPENLY TALK ABOUT THEIR DEVELOPMENT. Pokemon kinda likes to pretend that other video games don't exist, so I'd very much appreciate it to see this kind of thing.
