>>50110755Switch effect. Every Nintendo first party IP that that already did well is doing historic numbers on Switch.
Previous peak -> Switch current peak
Mario Kart: 37 million -> 43 million
Animal Crossing: 13 million -> 37 million (!)
Smash: 13 million -> 27 million
Zelda: 8 million -> 25 million (!)
3D Mario: 12 million -> 23 million
Mario Party: 8 million (I think) -> 17 million
Then there's others like Kirby where Star Allies isnt quite first but it is second overall despite SA's lukewarm reception, and 2D Zelda where Link's Awakening is on its way to outselling NES Zelda and becoming the best selling one ever. Mario Tennis is also the best selling Mario Sports, and so is Luigi's Mansion 3. 2D Mario and Donkey Kong are pretty much the only two series that didnt even come close to hitting their peak with their Switch entry.
Pokemon's growth (17 million post-Pokemania peak -> 23 million) has actually been relatively small compared to most other franchises even if both remakes are pretty close to outperforming every other remake. Goes to show what GameFreak is missing out on by half assing their games.
