Put it this way. Look at your own name, and think about how much meaning is behind it. Then imagine how much 'brutal shitbeating' had to be done to give you that name.
Chances are, not much. Keep it simple, keep it natural. Don't break out the thesaurus or the foreign language dictionaries just to name your Riolu some synonym for "iron."
