There's bigger questions to be had to be fair, like ethically why are Pokemon not given full legal personhood when they've displayed sapience, consciousness, autonomy, and intelligence? Its like the whole Data being a sentient being argument, Pokemon can display the same traits that Data can, so why can't they be seen as people?
