Yeah, i have other favorites which would be awesome in Smash like Pic Related, but to be honest, in terms of pokemon representation among Gens, Greninja is the absolute best choice he could have made for a newcomer that showcases the new Pokemon gens. Hell, 3 friends of mine jumped back into Pokemon for the first time since Diamond/Pearl after his Smash reveal, so i can tell you something went very right.
That being said, i'm actually a bit dissapointed that his movepool isn't as unique and full of surprises as i would've expected a Ninja pokemon to have, but oh well, that's the bad part about developing a character 1 year before his official inception. At least we got water swords.
