>>47236745Funnily enough, no. Even before Pokemon appeared in the west in 1998, I was already an avid handheld gamer. The games were cheap and I didn't have to share a TV with anyone. Before Pokemon came, I was hugely into Wario Land.
I have bought every Nintendo handheld since. Sure, there was the assumption that Pokemon would be made for it eventually, but NEVER did I buy it exclusively for Pokemon. Because I love handheld games in general. I bought a Switch day 1 but I never ponied up for LGPE or SWSH. Rather, I'm enjoying being able to play Tales of Vesperia in the comfort of my bed. Handheld gaming is great.
