As far as characters go, adding someone like Shota but with a less disgusting design would be a great addition. That way Ash has someone he aims to surpass in Paul and a follower he needs to watch out for like Shota. A fourth traveling companion who is actually interested in Gym Battles like Ash would be great too. But seeing two people face the same gyms would get repetitive so maybe an aspiring gym leader could be a great addition. Someone Brock can mentor. As far as main villains go, just combine the best aspects of both Team Galactic and Team Flare arcs except without an Alain
