As a story arc about the legendary Pokemon, the Necrozma arc finale was good enough. It's only really underwhelming in comparison; I think XY had a better "everyone come together to defeat the evil" ending, and the Nebby arc in SM had a more fulfilling build up with Solgaleo. Personally, the coolest part for me was Kukui revealing he had Incineroar to take down the TR thug's Mega Aggron. All of the events inside the Ultra Wormhole were fine.
As the conclusion to Poipole's adventure with Ash, I think it hits a bit better. I'll give them credit, I think Ash's sad smile when Poipole stays in the Ultra Wormhole is one of the best emotional faces that the Pokemon anime's pulled off. I can't think of but a few that hit that same emotive resonance.
