like 2 years ago i rekindled my flame for pokemon in a big way. i played through collosseum>xd>leafgreen>soulsilver>omegasapphire>platinum>ultramoon and have a casual white 2 file on my phone. i played x in 2014 and it was like the seeds that were planted for this rekindling.
i watched tons of the anime that i saw as a kid. i watched a lot of the movies. spent a lot of time on bulbapedia crafting each game to be my bros. i tried pokemon go for a month and had some fun. i even got the little bracelet that auto catches your pokemon. last year i tried to introduce my gf to pokemon with lets go pika. it half worked, she got to celadon city. i just kept thinking man all of this is building up to the epic switch game coming in 2019. i had my bros copied from my emulated games into pokemon bank and i was fucking READY i was READY for this game with all my bros the ultimate culmination of my pokemon fandom since being 10 years old in 1998 thinking it was destiny that i was the perfect age to buy red on release day
but now? i'm not ready. i'm just disappointed, and barely care. the dexit was one thing but the game looking like complete shit is simply not worth the money. unironically paying for a few months of world of warcraft seems like a better investment. maybe i'll buy it eventually. used or something. not sure. it makes me sad.
