A lot of other gens are represented in the background and even on signs -- the production team definitely did their research on the series. It's just that Gen 1 is the most popular because it was the first.
Plus, this is the first live-action Pokémon film. They're obviously going to play it safe. Hopefully this means we get movie adaptations of the mainline games at some point, I feel like Gen 5 in particular has some moments which would look great on the big screen.
Overall, I'm looking forward to this. Should be a fun watch, and could be big for the series.
