it's a feature that changes a pokemon's typing, design, stats and abilities, it makes you re-think on how you see that pokemon and be able to use them on an entirely different way, as far as pure gameplay features go it's actually a really good feature, and if you don't like it it's always been completely optional, you're never required to have one on your team because there's pokemon and teams that are able to be good without the need for megas.
