Plus when I'm playing a new Pokemon game I don't choose Pokemon for my team because they are strong, but because I like them. That makes me become attached to them and I consider them as my bro/sis. If the Pokemon is really androgynous, I call it by the gender it had in the game (for example I had a Salamence in my team in gen 3 and because she was female, I will usually refer to Salamence as "she").
