I remember as a kid opening up a pack of these issues of the Pokemon: The Electric Tale of Pikachu and a starter deck with the coin and everything. It was the greatest experience and the world portrayed in those comics was the most interesting take on early Kanto I wish got more explored. Still got those comics too.
Pretty sure it was the Christmas after I got Pokemon Blue. I remember playing that with my older brother sharing the same GameBoy. He was over my shoulder or vice versa and we were going through Mt. Moon and encountered and caught our very own Geodude! We got so psyched and when it asked us if we wanted to nickname it, we looked at each other simultaneously and shouted "Rocky!". We fought a lot as we became older, but I miss him. RIP Brent.
Sorry for the blog, Pokemon's been a warm throughline of memories since childhood.
