Because inevitably, the decisions eventually gravitate towards the most well-recognized, the most popular, and the most profitable Mons, leaving obscure favorites to suffer.
Also, Gamefreak were the ones who built this franchise around collecting, battling, and sharing as many monsters as possible, and ultimately, they should live up to the promise they made before about ensuring no one gets left behind. Their decision to push for annual game releases at the expense of quality and integrity says a lot about the direction Pokemon as a whole is going in.
But it's a decision capitalism inevitably rewards anyway, but that's a whole different story.
