For #4 I defined “skipping” a game where somebody didn’t play a certain game, but they played some other game after that. Overall LGPE was the clear winner of this at 13.8%, additionally, 44.7% of you did not play LGPE at all. The runners up for skipped games were BW2 at 11.7%, and then XY and ORAS tied at 9.0% each. LGPE makes sense, but I find it interesting that so much of the board missed out on one of the best games of the series, and many of them didn’t even necessarily think it was bad, they just didn’t think it would be anything special. I also find it interesting that so many people skipped Gen 6, especially considering it outsold Gen 7.
Part of what I did for #4 was identifying a group of players that I dubbed “superfans”. A superfan is someone who regardless of when they started, they played at least one of every pair of games following that, going all the way up to and including USUM. I still considered people who skipped LGPE or SWSH to be superfans, purely because about half of the board skipped those, while the attrition rate earlier was much lower.
As for the superfans, I classified 31.5% of the Kantokids as loyal superfans, 41.2% of the Johtotoddlers, 34.5% of the Hoennbabies, and 29.2% of the Sinnohfetuses. There was also 60% of the Unovabortions, but they were such a small portion that I won’t reference them much. However, I would expect that people who started with BW and after are probably more loyal to the series as they didn’t experience much of the older games. So aside from that, it seems that my fellow Johtotoddlers are the most loyal (this is a good thing and a bad thing) and the Sinnohfetuses are the least loyal next to Kantokids (this is a good thing and a bad thing). I found that Sinnohfetuses are more likely to skip random recent games but have been participating at consistent rates moving forward, and Kantokids are more likely to just lose interest altogether.
