>>21430856The hack seems to be a region/plot update for Kanto. One thing to note is that you have two rivals, the second being Green/Leaf, who takes the extra starter.
I know just yesterday I spoke of how shameful it is that Pokécommunity just cares about graphics, but, the hack's graphics are gorgeous here.
You fight both DICKS and Green instead of just DICKS, each of their rivals also being at Lv. 5. The battle theme for them is a more lighthearted remix of the Kanto Champion theme, I notice. Green also has her own custom theme and it's really nice to listen to.
There's a gate between Route 1 and Viridian, probably due to Viridian having a different tileset than Pallet. The music is a demake of the DPPtHGSS Wi-Fi theme
;_;I get Oak's Parcel (the Pokémart is gone and merged with the Pokécenter like in later games), bring it back, on the way out of Pallet Daisy gives me my Town Map/Running Shoes/a TM.
When I get back to Vridian, some Rocket Grunts are trying to recruit trainers. None of them are buying any of it and are ignoring them. One gets fed up and attacks me when I decline (you're silent like in the canon games) with a Lv. 4 Rattata.
Team Rocket seems awfully scrappy in this rendition. Apparently it's well-known that none of them have any good Pokémon and that they're really hurting on members which is why they're so desperate.
Silver (named Kamon in this game; the forum thread for the hack lists the reason as wanting him to have a name that matches the theme of Ethan and Lyra) heals me, and asks to battle me to see what I'm made of. He has a Lv. 6 Nidoran Male and the Johto rival theme.
So far the hack is pretty polished and great. It uses vanilla music in most places and custom music in others, and the custom music is good; the graphics look great; the only concern, not a real problem right now but just showing a warning sign, is that there might be some rivalitis in this game.
