All she's saying is "All Pokemon have different ways they like to be shown affection" some pokemon might like being petted and told they did a good job while others might hate that. Or the trainer might think them being "cute" and pulling on their face and calling them "Their little Ralts" even though they are not a ralts anymore makes them happy, but it doesn't.
All she's saying is just treat your Pokemon the way they want to be treated and understand what they want.
