>>45236482I think gen 4 overdid it with the amount of legendaries but they legitimately feel like the final step in the legendary chain and don't feel wasted
>Gen 1 had stupidly rare and powerful birds, a man made abomination cloned from the mother of all modern pokemon>Gen 2 had more mythical beings, with the beasts having been revived by a sacred Phoenix, Lugia kept the mystique of rare, powerful beings, just like the birds and a time travelling fairy>Gen 3 had the guys that pretty much called the shots with the land/sea/sky, the wish granter and a superpowered alien, legitimate power escalation and although the Regis were essentially filler, they didn't feel wasted either>Gen 4 Had the pinnacle, the little shits that controlled emotions, the big bosses of the metaphysical realm and the Creator God (plus like 5 mythicals)Everything after gen 4 feels stretched out and unnecessary, gen 5 going with the concepts of truth and ideals falls short of the lake trio, lore wise
Surprisingly gen 6 is the last one that kinda makes sense, a Pokemon that represents life and another that represents death definitely were about the only things missing from the chain (although definitely inferior to the gen 4 guys)
